Trying to be an Equestrian..

Most of the time our lives (media professionals) are about hectic schedules that include lavish lunch plans and never ending smoke breaks ,incessant mails, and back and forth with our so called creative meetings ... and then there are those sudden plans ...but who thought a channel meet would become a table where we would express our desires to become an Equestrian?? and what followed was yet another experience , i dont know if one day I would become a pro equestrian or not but I do want to have my own horse :) ( If my mom heard this she would make a "Dream On baby " Face !)

It was Richa's Plan to go to Jappaloupe , and we finally reached Talegoan . It was definitely a breath of fresh air to get away from bombay for a while .. It was spacious and quite green .
I love treehouses and that did catch my eyes , I already planned to hang around there .
When we entered our rooms .. the latches in our rooms didnt work .. it didnt bother me much as long as they assured its safe .. and I am fine as long as I didnt have to go through yet another robbery !
I have always been confident before trying anything new , but my accident had left me little under confident or lets say conscious. I dont question my stamina but if I lost balance and hurt myself in the same place it would cause whatever consequences and hence I was quite nervous before our first horse riding session .

It was time , we did'nt get to choose our own horses, I was happy enough to get a white horse and he was called Romeo . Our tuition was on the field .. it started with the "Up and Down Lessons" in order to trot and apparently I did it first and every one applauded :)
There was a whole lot things to concentrate from holding the reins to the how your feet is placed on the stirrup to mounting on the saddle ...I realized its not as easy as it looks and needs a lot of concentration .
I was following all instruction very carefully ,gathered my concentration and technically was the most sorted but some how i quite realized there is something wrong with my horse , I asked the trainer and he said nothing is wrong you need to connect with the horse but at the same time he would also say "Romeo ko peeche rak " I didnt understand why he would say that ..
I tried to connect with the horse : every now and then I would pat him , and talk to him , say good things ..and the Romeo would trot fine .. the moment I would stop patting him and talking to him , he would tilt his head to one side he would'nt keep pace and I knew something was wrong ..I asked the people who work there and they said " Romeo ko gussa bahut ata hain .. Agar vo samne hain vo peeche se dusre ghodo ko laath martha hain .. is liye usko peeche rakte hain "

While Monica was getting pro at the ride , Richa was still upset for not getting her Up and Down right .. and Debby was still not happy with her Horse ...

During one of our sessions we went to the ranch ... there was a young girl barely 12 years .. she was on her horse behind me.. she called out to me and said "Didi be careful , Romoe is mad ! I almost fell two times, there has been 2 people who has fallen off Romeo and he doesnt listen to anyone .." I freaked ... I already imagined yet another hip dislocation!

Horses are very intuitive and sensitive .. one needs to talk to their horse and make him feel nice .. Once you connect with the horse its very easy to ride .. The ride is a science of rythm .. the pace of the human and the horse has to be matched ..

I tried talking to Romoe once again.. Romoe's condition was like a jilted lover . He seemed sad .. and didnt bother but he did respond to my words .. The entire ranch walk I patted him .. and once we got back he trotted fine .

On our last session during that weekend getaway I requested for Tammy since I did'nt want to be conscious and ride. Tammy was amazing , she was beautiful, She was happy ..I could feel her energy .. I was told she was a couple of months pregnant, I did'nt want to ride on her once I heard that but the instructor insisted I dont bother about that ...
....And then I rode and I did fine !
I gained back my confidence by the end of the ride sessions and I surely want to canter one day :)
